Rain Song is an acoustic folk original featuring vocals, acoustic guitar, 12-string acoustic guitar and mandolin.

Rain Song is about everything... feeling hopeless yet ambitious, tired yet determined. I wrote this piece sitting on my bed on a weekday afternoon, strumming my guitar in open D tuning, almost as an emotional stream of consciousness. I sought to mimic this organic flow of emotion demonstrated in the lyrics through the production and instrumentation, where the vocals and lead guitar were recorded live in a single take, with 12-string and mandolin parts tracked on top, to ultimately represent and reflect the depth of the human heart.

The symbol of rain, referenced through the lyrical imagery as well as 'rain-like' percussive phrasing in the instrumentation, anchors and encapsulates this message whilst simultaneously alluding the listener to embrace vulnerability as emotional downpour is most often followed by rebirth and rejuvenation.

So, whether you are feeling joyful or despondent, put Rain Song on to have a boogie, or a cry, or both :)))
